HOW it WORKS

Sage Ann is a transpersonal therapist who primarily utilizes mindfulness principles, yoga practices, EMDR, somatic and parts work to heal internal wounds, connect to the higher self and help clients achieve personal goals. They believe there are many paths to healing and work to help clients integrate and make meaning out of any additional work they do outside of treatment; should that be breathwork, psychedelics, meditation, spiritual practices, tarot, etc. Sage Ann believes healing comes from a deepening and integration of one's sense of connectedness, whether it be with self, community, higher beings, nature, or the entire cosmos.

Additionally, Sage Ann has training in DBT (dialectical behavioral therapy) and ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy) and is able to pull from these two practices and apply skills and principles with clients as appropriate.

Sage Ann primarily serves adults individually or in relational counseling. They are an ethical non-monogamy competent therapist.

Understanding the Principles of Mindfulness: Present moment awareness, Acceptance of internal experience, Non-Judgement, Letting go of attachment (no craving/avoiding), Recognizing the law of nature (everything changes, nothing lasts forever)

Yoga Practices: Yoga allows for engaging wellness of the mind, body and spirit. If one of these three states is not being attended to, suffering will endure. Engaging in the practice of yoga includes breathwork, meditation, and active postures. All bodies are different, therefore yoga looks different for everyone. Sage Ann will work with you to find a practice that works best for your body and for your present concerns. We store trauma in our bodies. Engaging in a daily practice of awareness of your body helps in healing and releasing the trauma that is stored in it.

EMDR: An evidenced based practice that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences.

Somatic Work: During sessions we will often look at what is showing up in your body in the moment and use mindfulness or yoga positions to create acceptance and openness, which leads to release of pain, discomfort and trauma.

Parts Work/Internal Family System: Recognizing that we have many parts of us that play different roles in our life. Being able to become more Self led, in understanding that parts have reactions, allow them to be seen/heard, give them the opportunity to know that the Self can handle it, and then they can give up current roles that are no longer serving you in place of new ones.
